What is Thermacrop and how does it benefit your garden?
Thermacrop is a durable crop cover similar to garden fleece but stronger and easier to handle. It protects plants from diseases, pests, and frost, and helps extend the growing season. Thermacrop allows 87% of light to pass through and provides frost protection down to -3°C. It's made from soft polyethylene and has a life expectancy of 5 years.
How do I use Thermacrop effectively?
For vegetables and salads, cover immediately after sowing or planting, securing it on all sides with some slack for growth. When reseeding lawns, cover them after sowing to protect against birds and conserve moisture. For early potatoes, consider using additional protection like 30g fleece. Thermacrop should be removed after 6-8 weeks, except for crops like melons and courgettes that can benefit from longer coverage. Always remove during mild conditions to prevent plant shock.
What are the benefits and care instructions for Thermacrop?
Thermacrop is much stronger than 17g garden fleece, making it a more durable option with a longer lifespan. It can be reused multiple times if handled carefully and washed at low temperatures with a mild detergent to maintain light penetration. When using for frost protection, ensure some moisture is present on the material. If it’s very dry, spray with a fine mist of water.
