What is Weed control Fabric?

Weed control Fabric is a permeable black ground cover fabric with many uses in the garden and greenhouse. It is used to prevent weeds from growing in your garden, pathways, and other garden areas. It works by blocking the sunlight which weeds need to grow.

Can it be used as an alternative to herbicides?

Yes, using Weed Control Fabric is a great alternative to using other harsh chemicals in the garden for controlling weeds. It can be used as an alternative to herbicides or to reduce the number of herbicides needed in your garden.

What is it made from?

The weed control fabric is made from 70g spun-bonded polypropylene fabric which is permeable to air, moisture, and nutrients whilst blocking sunlight and preventing weeds from germinating.

How do I use Weed Control Fabric?

• Remove any existing weeds in the area and ensure the soil is level and smooth.
• Use Scissors to cut the fabric to the desired size of the area, and leave extra fabric around the edge for overlapping.
• Place the weed control fabric onto the area (You can use garden pegs to secure the fabric to the ground)
• Cover the weed control fabric with sand, mulch, gravel, or other material.
• Cut any holes or crosses in the fabric to plant flowers or vegetables.

Can I use it with vegetables and soft fruit?

Yes, you can use it with vegetables and soft fruit. Peg out the fabric and plant through crosses cut in the fabric.

Is it UV-stabilised? 

Yes, it is UV stabilised which means the material has a natural resistance to UV radiation and should not fade or degrade over time when exposed to UV light.

What can it be used for?

It can be used for landscaping your garden, for maintenance-free shrub plantings, gravelled and ‘wood-chipped’ areas. It can also be used in vegetable gardens, flower beds and around trees and shrubs to help keep the areas look tidy and prevent weeds from springing up.
