Pairs well with
These aluminium hoops provide a straightforward framework for covering crops with fleece or garden netting. Once positioned over a growing area, they can be used to form low tunnels and cloches around fruit, vegetables and other plants. Clips are supplied with each hoop to help hold the chosen cover in place.
Fleece can be used when crops need extra protection in colder conditions, while netting can be fitted later in the season to help shield plants from garden pests.
Aluminium Hoops for Creating Crop Covers
Each semi-circular hoop comes with clips for attaching fleece or netting directly to the frame. This allows you to create a covered growing area without needing additional tools.
The cover can be changed to suit the season, making the hoops useful for both colder weather protection and pest control during the main growing period.
Available Aluminium Hoop Sizes
There are two hoop sizes available.
The small hoop measures 1.15m wide x 600mm high once erected and should be used with netting or fleece that is at least 2.1m wide.
The large hoop measures 1.55m wide x 800mm high once erected and needs netting or fleece with a minimum width of 2.4m.
Clips are included with each hoop to help keep the covering material securely attached.
Adding Height With Hoop Extensions
Hoop extensions can be used when extra growing height is required. As the frame becomes taller, additional fleece or netting will also be needed so that the covering can still reach ground level on both sides.
- 500mm extensions: allow approximately 90cm of additional cover in both width and length.
- 800mm extensions: allow approximately 150cm of additional cover in both width and length.
Using Garden Hoops Throughout the Growing Season
Fleece can be fitted over the hoops to help retain warmth and moisture around early crops. As conditions become warmer, the fleece can be removed and replaced with netting to help protect crops from pests while still allowing light through.
This means the same hoop framework can be used for different types of crop protection at different times of year.
Creating Other Garden Structures With Aluminium Hoops
The hoops use the same size tubing as our walk in cages, so compatible fittings can also be used with them.
These fittings can be used to increase the height of the hoops or create different structures in the garden. See our range of garden hoop accessories for suitable components.
