What is a Rain Diverter Kit?

A Rain Diverter Kit collects water that falls off your roof, shed, or greenhouse from your downpipe so you can use the water elsewhere in your garden.

What are the benefits of a Rain Diverter Kit?

Rain Diverter kits provide a free source of water so it can reduce your water bill by saving this water.

Another benefit of using a Rain Diverter kit is that it helps conserve resources and protect the environment by reducing the amount of water running into drains. Rainwater is better for your plants rather than tap water which sometimes contains chemicals and chlorine which is used to treat water.

What is included in the Rain Diverter Kit?

The kit includes 1 x Rain Diverter, 1 x 20mm Connector, 1 x Washer and 1 x 500mm Hose.

Will this Rain Diverter Kit fit with my downpipe?

This kit will fit a standard 68mm round or 65mm square plastic downpipes. It is not suitable for cast iron downpipes.

Fitting instructions:

Fitting the rain diverter kit is a fairly simple process.

1. Take the lid off your water butt. If your water butt is not predrilled already, then you will need to drill a 25mm hole to fit the rain diverter into.

2. Drill a 25mm hole near the top of your water butt on the side which is closest to the downpipe. Please note, some water butts may have drill points already indicated for ease of use. Push Connector through the washer from inside the butt, then fit and tighten the nut on the outside to form a seal. If using a stand, place the butt onto it.

3. Mark the downpipe 10mm below the top of the butt. Mark again 30mm below this point using a hacksaw and then cut out this section.

4. Fit the rain diverter with square end up into the cut section of the downpipe. Release any clips supporting the downpipe in order to insert the rain diverter body and refit once the diverter is in place.

5. Connect the hose between the rain diverter body and the water butt connector.

Please note: If fitted correctly, then the butt will fill to within 10mm of the top. If water butt overflows – just raise the butt. If the water level is too low – lower the butt. If the water level is too low still; ensure rain has fallen to fill the butt before lowering.
