Why Use Vine Weevil Nematodes?

Use vine weevil nematodes to prevent damage to your plant roots. These microscopic worms seek out and kill vine weevil larvae, including the Heterorhabditis megidis species. They feed and multiply inside the larvae, effectively controlling the pest. While not visible with a hand lens, they provide an effective biological control solution.

When to Apply Vine Weevil Nematodes?

Apply vine weevil nematodes when the larvae are active, typically in late Spring and early Autumn. For high infestations, two applications may be necessary. Autumn application is most effective as larvae are younger and have not yet caused significant plant damage. Banding pots with Insect Barrier Glue can also prevent adult weevils from climbing into pots.

How to Apply Vine Weevil Nematodes?

Vine weevil nematodes come with instructions and can be applied using a watering can or nematode applicator. Simply apply to moist soil when the temperature is above 5ºC (41ºF) and ensure the soil remains moist for at least two weeks after application. Nematodes can survive occasional frost, so there's no need to worry if the temperature drops after application.
